-냐고 묻다

ask whether/what ~

Attaches to a verb or adjective stem to report a question using the plain-question ending -냐 plus the quotative -고 and 묻다 'to ask'; the standard indirect-question form.

Examples

  • 친구가 저에게 요즘 바쁘냐고 물었어요.

    My friend asked me whether I was busy these days.

  • 선생님은 학생에게 숙제를 다 했냐고 물으셨다.

    The teacher asked the student whether they had finished the homework.

  • 아이가 왜 하늘이 파란색이냐고 물었다.

    The child asked why the sky is blue.
