-을 정도로

to the extent that ~

Attaches to a verb or adjective stem to describe a degree by comparing it to a resulting situation; the clause before 정도로 states the extreme result and the clause after states the cause.

Examples

  • 눈물이 날 정도로 그 영화는 감동적이었다.

    The movie was moving to the point of bringing tears.

  • 손이 떨릴 정도로 긴장했어요.

    I was so nervous that my hands were shaking.

  • 밤을 새울 정도로 일이 많았다.

    There was so much work that I had to stay up all night.
