Meanings

   An expression used to indicate that a certain act or state is banned or limited.

   어떤 행동이나 상태를 금지하거나 제한함을 나타내는 표현.

   ※ 'ㄹ'을 제외한 받침 있는 동사와 형용사 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.

Examples

• 꽃을 함부로 꺾으면 안 됩니다.

  You must not pick flowers carelessly.

• 미술관 안에서는 사진을 찍으면 안 된다.

  You may not take pictures inside the art museum.

• 실수가 있으면 안 되므로 나는 서류들을 꼼꼼히 확인했다.

  Since there mustn't be any mistakes, I checked the documents carefully.

• 왜 이렇게 일찍 자니? 내일도 늦잠을 자서 학교에 늦으면 안 되거든요.

  Why are you going to bed so early? Because I can't oversleep and be late for school again tomorrow.

• 건물 안에서는 담배를 피우면 안 됩니다.

  You must not smoke inside the building.

• 안내문에 잔디밭에 들어가면 안 된다고 적혀 있다.

  The sign says you must not walk on the lawn.
