   (old-fashioned) A connective ending used to recognize the truth of the preceding statement, while indicating there is another relevant fact.

   (옛 말투로) 앞에 오는 말을 인정하면서 그와 관련된 다른 사실도 있음을 나타내는 연결 어미.

   (old-fashioned) A connective ending used to indicate that the preceding statement will happen soon, adding other relevant content.

   (옛 말투로) 앞에 오는 말이 곧 일어날 것임을 밝히면서 관련된 내용을 이어 말할 때 쓰는 연결 어미.

• 야채는 건강에도 좋거니와 먹기도 간편하다.

  Vegetables are not only good for your health but also easy to eat.

• 삼촌은 사업에도 실패했거니와 결혼 생활도 끝내 파탄이 났다.

  My uncle not only failed in business but also, in the end, his marriage fell apart.

• 아이가 공부를 좋아하기도 하거니와 잘해서 부모 모두 기대가 크다.

  The child not only loves studying but is also good at it, so both parents have high expectations.

• 요즘 학원비가 비싸서 아이들 교육시키기가 너무 어려워요. 학원비도 문제이거니와 교육의 질도 믿을 수 없어요.

  Private tutoring fees are so expensive these days that it's very hard to educate children. The fees are one problem, and on top of that you can't trust the quality of the education either.
