   An expression used to indicate that one is pretending to do something or to be something, which is not true.

   실제로 그렇지 않은데도 어떤 행동이나 상태를 거짓으로 꾸밈을 나타내는 표현.

   ※ ‘있다’, ‘없다’, ‘계시다’나 ‘있다’, ‘없다’로 끝나는 형용사, 동사 또는 ‘-으시-’, ‘-겠-’ 뒤에 붙여 쓴다.

• 영수가 아내를 불렀지만 아내는 못 들은 척하고 자기 일을 했다.

  Yeongsu called his wife, but she pretended not to hear and kept doing her own thing.

• 승규는 읽지도 않은 책을 읽은 척했다가 친구들에게 망신을 당했다.

  Seunggyu pretended to have read a book he hadn't even read, and ended up embarrassed in front of his friends.

• 곤충들은 사람들을 보면 도망치거나 죽은 척하곤 한다.

  When insects see people, they tend to run away or pretend to be dead.

• 민준이가 또 시험에서 떨어졌다면서요? 네. 아무렇지 않은 척하지만 속으로는 마음이 안 좋을 거예요.

  I heard Minjun failed the exam again? Yes. He's acting like it's nothing, but he must feel bad inside.

• 민준이는 아내가 민망할까 봐 아내의 실수를 모르는 척해 주었다.

  Minjun pretended not to notice his wife's mistake so she wouldn't feel embarrassed.

• 나는 잘 알지도 못하면서 아는 척하는 사람들을 경멸했다.

  I despised people who acted like they knew something when they really didn't.
