   An expression used to indicate that one does a certain act mentioned in the preceding statement and a while later, does another thing.

   앞에 오는 말이 나타내는 행동을 하고 시간적으로 뒤에 다른 행동을 함을 나타내는 표현.

   ※ ‘ㄹ’을 제외한 받침 있는 동사 뒤에 붙여 쓴다. ‘-은 후’로도 쓴다.

Examples

• 승규는 보통 식사를 마친 후에 커피를 마신다.

  Seunggyu usually drinks coffee after finishing a meal.

• 영수는 손님이 모두 돌아간 후에 어머니를 도와서 설거지를 했다.

  Yeongsu helped his mother wash the dishes after all the guests had left.

• 학교를 마치고 집에 돌아와서 숙제부터 끝낸 후에 놀아야 한다.

  After coming home from school, you should finish your homework before playing.

• 우리 동아리는 책을 읽은 후에 토론을 하는 모임이다.

  Our club is a group that discusses a book after reading it.

• 달걀은 삶은 후에 바로 찬물에 헹궈야 껍질이 잘 벗겨진다.

  After boiling eggs, you have to rinse them right away in cold water for the shell to peel off easily.

• 치아 건강을 위해서 밥을 먹은 후에 이를 닦는 것이 좋다.

  For dental health, it's good to brush your teeth after eating.
